Retro Candy from the 1960s Nostalgia Memories
Retro Candy from the '60s is a great gift idea for anyone who grew up during that fun decade. Besides the wonderful penny candy from that time, there was a lot happening in the 1960s. The Woodstock Festival, Super Bowl I, opening of "Hair," the "I Have a Dream" speech, bell bottoms, long hair, and love beads are all from that period.

Retro Candy from the '60s Memories
Jennifer K. of Kingsland, GA remembers: "My folks were brought up during the 60s and would share with me lots of cool candy treats like Wonka Bottle Caps, Pixy Stix, Zotz, Bubble Gum Cigarettes, Beeman's Gum, the Maple Bun Bar and Wax Lips. That candy always brings back great memories of them."
Lisa S. of Temple, GA remembers: "When I was a small child in the 60's, my grandfather owned a small store. Whenever my mom took me there, my papa would give me this tiny little brown paper sack and let me fill it up. I used to love getting the little bitty tootsie rolls and hershey kisses that we called silver bells. Back then, they came in a box and you could buy them one at a time. Later on when I started school, everyone wanted to be my friend because I always had a pocket full of Now-&-Laters."
Cindy H. of Mariposa, CA remembers: "We used to love collecting the Bazooka bubblegum wrappers with the comics inside. We would go down to the skating rink and cruise by the planter boxes to find the ones people had thrown away."
"Oh how I loved the chocolate and banana taffy. I would take the wrapped candy bar in my hand and smash it on the table, open it carefully and enjoy every little piece, especially the little slivers. Good memories and delicious candy from the 60s!" - Ellen S., Mendota Heights, MN
"Heading over to 61 Market as soon as we would get our allowance and getting the taffy!!! Running home sticking it in the freezer and when it was good and cold breaking it on the sidewalk and eating it!!!! Oh those were the days...." - Dory L., Hastings, MN
"My favorite candy while growing up in the 60s was Charleston Chews. Every week, my sisters and I would get our allowances for getting our chores done. Mind you, we got maybe a dollar or two in change. My sisters and I would walk to the nearest corner shop and make our candy selections. I loved my Charleston Chews. In the summer I'd stick mine in the freezer for a tasty frozen treat." - Malory S., Columniana, OH
