Bonomo Turkish Taffy Candy Memories
"I remember that the turkish candy was 5 cents. They came in flavors in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and banana. We took them to the movies and it lasted all through the movie. The flavors were all great, I remember they were about 6 inches long. They were so good. " - Melissa B., Philadelphia, PA
"Bonomo Turkish Taffy was one of my favorite candies. I love the chocolate and strawberry flavors the best, but they were all good. I was lucky to have a little candy store on my block, just a few houses down. I was always there and my favorite thing to buy for a nickel was the turkish taffy. I thought it was so neat how it boke apart in just the right size pieces when I slapped it on the sidewalk. Over the years, I've looked for it and then found out for an old fashioned candy store that Bonomo's was out of business. I tried buying French's Taffy, put it in my refrigerator to harden, but never got to eat it because my daughter found it. I would love to taste it again... I'll just hide it from my daughter." - Pat D., Barnegat, NJ
"Growing up my sis and I would run to the store to buy Turkish Taffy. We would then unwrap it and try to pull it about in half. One of us always seemed to get the larger half and one very sticky hands, but it didn't matter because we would sit and enjoy the taffy until we wished we had another bar." - Linda O., Edison, NJ
"I remember smacking the candy bar on the kitchen table to get it to break into little pieces so that it would be easier to eat. Oh Oh Oh Oh, it's Bonomo..., Turkish Taffy.." - Naomi S., Sherman Oaks, CA
