Retro Candy Memories

Paul M., of Baldwin, NY reminisces: "I remember back in the 60's when there were soda fountain corner stores and going behind the glass counter with sliding doors and picking the candies I wanted and putting them in a brown paper bag. Wow what memories when candy and things were so innocent and so simple."

Sarah P., of Rockmart, GA remembers: "When I was a little girl, daddy would take us downtown on Saturdays. I would always ask for two nickels and two pennys. It was the 1960's, so I could get several candies with that amount of money. Allen's Five and Dime had a glass candy counter that held maple nut goodies, chocolate covered peanuts, and others. My favorite was the little wax bottles that held a koolaid type drink. You could chew the wax afterwards. I wish I could go back to the good old days one more time!"

Sarah P., of Bristol, WI reminisces: "I remember when I was a kid, they had the old school dot candies that were on the small reams of paper, and I'd spend hours trying to peel them off without having the paper still attached to them. I'd eat them anyways, and my entire mouth would be blue and red, and my teeth would be stained and everything. It was great, and it never got old. I wish they were easier to find these days."
